Tony Lakatos & Frankfurt Radio Bigband : Porgy & Bess |
 |
| |
The double cd "Porgy & Bess" presents the entire spectrum of tenor saxophonist Tony Lakatos' abilities , this time teamed up with the great Frankfurt Radio Bigband. One of the most timeless works of music in recent history has been attired in completely new garb in the form of arrangements by Jörg Achim Keller. The recording contains all the hits as "Summertime", "It Ain't Necessarily So" or "I Loves You Porgy" along with pieces not heard all too often such as "Jasbo Brown Blues" and "It Take A Long Pull To Get There" . Bill Millkowski, a New York authority among music critics reached an unequivocal and equally noteworthy judgement regarding this project: "This recording of "Porgy & Bess" is a triumph fort he team of Lakatos and Keller. With reference to the original material and a vision for a fresh take on things, the gifted Hungarian saxophonist and accomplished German arranger have breathed new life into the quintessentially American work.
