Peter Weniger : Sing Yourself A Dream |
 |
| |
I contrast to the preceding album "Sing Yourself A Dream" sets ist sights on calmer, well-temered tones. Realigned and rigged up with an equally new quartet, Weniger meets up with Martin Wind on bass, whos has meanwhile established himself in New York City, Hans Dekker on drums and Hubert Nuss on piano, who was recently awarded the Jazz Prize by WDR, a major German broadcasting network. Far from the hustle and bustle of gigging and touring, the four of them developed a refined audiomatrix, a sound that utilizes clearly structured motifs distinguished by sovereign technique and high-flying musical fantasy to rocket into thrillingly effective dialogs anf tingling climaxes. Alongside a number of own balladesques pieces such as "Prayer" or "Remember EJ", which is dedicated to Elvin Jones, Peter Weniger has chosen selected compositions from other composers including Jobims "O Grande Amor" or "When Lights Are Low" by Benny Carter which fit like a glove in the tranquil, almost meditative context posed by the album. An extraordinary quartet of top-flight musicians is presenting Jazz with all the attributes of chamber music, Bar Jazz in an atmosphere at ist finest .
