Susan Weinert : Tripple Talk / Live |
 |
| |
Susan Weinert and her two cohorts, Martin Weinert (Bass) and Hardy Fischötter (Drums) have allowed themselves ten years to perfect the group's sound, intensify their distinctive style and capture it as live album. With "Triple Talk/Live" , the Susan Weinert Band is presenting not only highlights from the past ("The Kobayashi Syndrome" and "Hopeless Case"), they are also showcasing four previously unreleased pieces that erupt in rave reactions in concert. Just listen to the first bars of the opener "Snapshot", to appreciate how licks and riffs can shutterbug guitar affionados into rapturous bliss. With the certainty of a sleepwalker , Susan Weinert develops themes during ectended flights of fancy that often last over ten minutes: disassembling, reassembling, but always reaching new hights. Bass runs undulating meaty and full, driving drums never searching for a compromise, yet avove all the steadfastness of a guitar always coming up with new ideas in the hands of Susan Weinert.
Press Quotes:
Kultur SPIEGEL 1/'03 :
"A well-performed fusion of Jazz, Funk & Rock."
Gitarre & Bass January '03 :
"Together the three create a truly incredibly tight Trio Sound."
Rheinische Post Dec. 31, 2002 :
"The recording underscores Susan Weinert's reputation as Germany's leading female electric-guitar player, someone who has no reason to hide behind such world stars as John Scofield or Mike Stern."
Good Times, January 2003:
"Whether with an earthy or an evanescent feel, these are sounds with a strong power to communicate. Once again Susan Weinert has justified her reputation as the leading female Jazz guitar player in Europe."
Fono Forum, February 2003:
"Germany's No. 1 female Fusion guitar player uses solid grooves and complex rhythms on the electric bass and drums to give twists and turns to her ideas, setting a dramatic stage for her accents and effects. The two men at her side carry her, drive her on, push and shove, lofting her into take-off and bringing her back down to a safe landing." 4 Stars
Audio, February 2003:
"Only one thing to do with this disc: hit the volume, press 'Play' and let the bass gut-zoom towards the diaphragm, the drum rhythms work up a sweat and the gorgeously intertwined guitar solos all take effect. Susan Weinert has a fantastic feel for dynamics, suspense and melodic improvisation."
Stereoplay, February 2003:
"A gripping experience."
Jazz Podium, February 2003:
"The artistic standard set displays unerring clarity.
