David Friedman

David Friedman The American vibraphonist David Friedman is unquestionable a master of his instrument. His unexhaustible reservoir of possibilities for musical expression has been manifested in concerts and recordings with such diverse artists as Leonard Bernstein, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter, George Benson or Yoko Ono. Encounters with Joe Henderson, Ron Carter, Johnny Griffin, Horace Silver, Dino Saluzzi and countless other Jazz authorities were always driven by the aspiration to use an open dialog and to explore the sound potential of his instrument.
"Double Image" , his project with marimba player Dave Samuels is viewed as pioneering for the instrument's genre. Friedman's teaching capacity at the Jazz Department of the "Hochschule der Künste", a university-level school of fine arts in Berlin, has provided him with esteem on a worldwide scale in the academic sector as well.
