Word has it that the number of Irish singer/songwriter Luka Bloom's fans increases proportionately with each album. Three were recorded with Warner Bros.: "Riverside", "The Acoustic Motorbike" and "Turf"; "Salty Heaven" was released in 1999 by Sony. Having spent some time "over yonder" in the USA, the brother of folk legend Christy Moore (the erstwhile Barry Moore changed his name quite a while ago), he has again made Ireland his home.
Interspersed among many pieces of his own, he has managed to impart "old-gold" classics such as LL Cool J's "I Need Love", the Waterboys' hit "This Is The Sea" or Elvis Presley's heart-breaker "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" with the typical Luka Bloom solo sound, generating boundless delight over and over again at concerts which have meanwhile attained a legendary status.
Above and beyond this, in encounters with such artists as Sinead O’Connor, Mohamed Bouhanna or Mairtin O’Connor the Irishman has amply demonstrated his continuing inquisitiveness towards the broadest spectrum of cultural circles and genres.
